DIRECTIONS

FROM PENNSYLVANIA & NEW JERSEY

Pennsylvania Turnpike to New Jersey Turnpike (AM Radio #880 or 1010 for traffic report)

Option #1 (15 miles shorter):

Go to end of NJ Turnpike to George Washington Bridge, upper level; stay in right lane. Immediately at end of Bridge, take off-ramp on right for Henry Hudson Parkway, North. Follow HH Parkway to Saw Mill Parkway. Exit right on Cross County, East to Merit Parkway/Route 15 (which turns into Wilbur Cross Parkway) to Route 91 to Hartford (28 miles)

Option #2:

Exit onto Garden State Parkway to end which turns into 87 East across Tappanzee Bridge. Once you cross bridge, road turns into 287 East. Take Merit Parkway (Route 15). Which turns into Wilbur Cross Parkway, to 91 North to Hartford (28 miles)

FROM 91 NORTH:

Take Route 84 East (exit 29) outside Hartford to Route 74 East (exit 69). Right off ramp for 8 miles to dead end; left on Route 44 East; 12 miles to Pomfret. Route 44 will split - 44 goes to the left - (Putnam Savings Bank is on the corner) ahead is Route 101. Take left at bank, staying on Route 44 East to 1st driveway on left (#70 Averill Road/Route 44.) Yellow Cape with red door and detached 3-car garage; park facing bank.

FROM LONG ISLAND

Long Island Expressway (Route 495) West to Cross Island (North) To Throgs Neck Bridge to 95 North to 91 North - then follow directions from 91 North, above

OR

Port Jefferson ferry to Bridgeport, CT. Take RT 8 North to RT 15 (Merritt/Wilbur Cross Parkway) to 91 North - then follow directions from 91 North, above

FROM EASTERN LONG ISLAND

LIE East (becomes County Rd. #58) to #105 to #43 to Sound Ave. Right on Sound Ave. to Orient Point (Cross Sound Ferry). Ferry to New London, CT. Then follow directions "From Southern CT". One hour drive from New London Ferry to B&B.

FROM SOUTHERN CONNECTICUT:

Going 395 North take Exit 93 onto Route 101 West; Travel about 4 miles, crossing Route 169. Continue straight on Route 101 West < ½ mile; Route 101 turns into Route 44 - Putnam Savings Bank will be on the far right. At the bank, bear right onto Averill Road/Route 44 East (no street sign) to the first driveway on the left (#70 Averill Road/Route 44.) Yellow cape with red door.

OR

From 395 North take Exit 83A onto Scenic Route 169 North to intersection with RT 101 in Pomfret. Turn left onto Route 101 West and follow directions above.

FROM PROVIDENCE AIRPORT (T.F. Green Airport)
(Travel time: 40 minutes)

Follow signs to I-95 North. Take Exit 14 onto Route 37 West. Travel 2.4 miles to I-295 North. Travel 4.1 miles to exit for "Hartford / Johnston" , Route 6 West. Stay on Route 6 for about 18 miles to Route 101 West. Stay on Route 101 passing four corners in Dayville (Burger King and Shell Gas Station), continuing out of town for about 4 miles crossing Route 169. Continue straight on 101; < ½ mile to Putnam Savings Bank, bear right onto Averill Road/Route 44 East; to the first driveway on the left (#70 Averill Road/Route 44). Park facing bank.

FROM BOSTON (Travel time: one hour, 15 minutes)

I-90 West (Mass Turnpike) to Auburn, Exit 10. Follow signs to Route 395 South. Cross MA line into CT and take Exit 97 (Route 44). Follow Route 44 West; go through the town of Putnam, pass Day Kimball Hospital to second blinking light (Vanilla Bean Cafe & Martha's Herbary). Turn left onto Route 169 South (which is also Route 44 West); continue past Pomfret School to right fork onto Route 44 West/Averill Road. We are the last house on the right (#70 Averill Road/Route 44), immediately before Putnam Savings Bank. Park facing bank

FROM STURBRIDGE, MASS.
(Travel time from Sturbridge exit: 35 minutes)

Take the Mass. Turnpike to the Sturbridge Exit. Follow signs from the exit to Route 131 East (toward Southbridge). Go through Southbridge, and at the first rotary bear right (still 131) several miles to right on Route 169 South. Travel 10-15 miles into Pomfret. Continue on 169 South through the blinking light at Route 44/97 (Vanilla Bean Cafe and Martha's Herbary on corners.) Continue past the Pomfret School (on right) to right fork onto Route 44 West/Averill Road. We are the last house on the right (#70), immediately before Putnam Savings Bank. Park facing bank.

FROM HARTFORD (Travel Time: one hour)

84 East to Exit 69, Route 74 East; travel for 8 miles and make left on to Route 44 East; travel for 12 miles to Pomfret. Route 44 will split - 44 goes to the left (Putnam Savings Bank is on the corner) ahead is Route 101. Take left on Route 44 East to 1st driveway on left (#70 Averill Road/Route 44). Park facing bank
